Objects In The Mirror Are Closer Than They Appear

The project explores black identity and trauma through a generational lens. Using oil on canvas, the artist depicts a face seemingly held by two hands of various “colors” of Black skin, each hand symbolizing the daily challenge of racism and colorism faced by Black Americans. The complex texture parallels the complexity of the black identity generation after generation, emphasizing how historical issues persist and shape the identity of future lineages.
